Divine Loraine

Havent been sharing many of my outfits lately. Although the outfit that I am wearing in these pictures is one of my favorites. Although you can not see the pants, they are AWESOME! I got them over a yr ago for like 5 bucks and when I saw them in the store I just could not resist! They are blue with pin stripes on them that are multi-colored. The top that I am wearing is from Saks5 avenue, but from the SEVENTIES! I bought it from this free lance fashion designer who took all of her old grandparents colored shirts and fitted them, then sold them for ten dollars each! Another deal I just could not refuse. These pictures are taken at one of my favorite places in all of philadelphia! Once called the Divine Loraine, it was a succesfull hotel in North Philly around the 1980's, where the owner was holding Mexican girls captive and selling them into prostitution. Although a tragic story, the building remains a historical monument to me, and many other philidelphians. I sometimes like to explore this old building, running through out the old halls and peering out the old windows, hoping I can get a glimpse into the past!

EEEEEP THERE IS THAT BEAUTIFUL, MONSTROUS BUILDING I LOVE EVER SO MUCH! LET US ALL BASK IN THE GLORY OF THIS !!!

** GIVE AWAY GIVE AWAY GIVE AWAY **

I mean, who doesn't love free stuff, right? Well, since my blog is doing so well within the first week it is up and running I am doing a clothes give away to give a big thank you to all my followers and commenters thus far! Of course, there are a few exceptions and rules in order to be qualified for this give away, but they are simple and easy and there are going to be MULTIPLE WINNERS!

WHY AM I DOING THIS?
Well, like I said earlier it is kind of like a thank you to my followers. But also because I just moved into a new apartment and I am just trying to get rid of some of the clothes that I am no longer interested in wearing anymore, so I might as well give it to some of my followers!

RULES RULES RULES RULES ~~*1. You must be following me!
2. You must comment on this post claiming that you are interested!
3. Advertise my blog in one of your blog posts so other readers are able to find my blog!
THATS IT; SIMPLE EASY AND FUN!

The give away is going to end THIS FRIDAY! That is February 3rd, i believe. There will be a first place, second place and third place. I will be posting the clothes that I will be giving away so as of now it is kind of a mystery, but don't worry they are going to be AWESOME pieces, mainly vintage. Each winner will be able to choose exactly which pieces they want so tomorow when I post what I am going to be giving away, comment on exactly what piece you want. THANK YOU!

80's Girl in a 2012 World

If you have not already been able to notice, I love the 80's! Not only would my hair fit perfectly within that time period, but my style never strays away from one simple theme: 80's culture. One of my favorite stores in Philly; Retrospect, is great because it looks as if someones 80yr old grandma threw up and out came all her old clothes from her fabulous closet. Not only is Retrospect a magical land filled with old vintage goodies, but it is also color coordinated. COLOR COORDINATED! Do you know how much easier that makes my life? Although my outfit that I wore today is not actually from Retrospect, I always keep it in mind when getting ready in the morning!

Blouse; Buffulo Exchange
Shorts: Buffulo Exchange
Tights: Urban
Creepers: ASK ME

I am doing a ton of packing today because tomorrow I will be moving. FUN! Although I love the new house I will be moving into, the idea of moving freaks me out considering I have moved about five times in the past year. Talk about a mind fucking head ache. Its almost three and I have not even STARTED to clean my room let alone pack all my shit up. Living in my parents house for the first 18 yrs of my life, we never moved, anywhere. Now, for the past 5 yrs I have been on my own I can not stick to one house or place.

Blue Velvet

I just can not think of a better title for this post, even though I am pretty sure  I have read at least ten blogs who have at one point or another used my title as one of their blog titles, oops oh well, deal with my unoriginality. Today I wore an entirely new outfit, and loved it. Probably one of my favorite outfits in a while. It was classy, but I never strayed away from my vintage style. Once again, sorry for my picture quality, I am working on saving for a nicer camera or at least trying to find my cord to my cannon point and shoot. This blouse that I am wearing is awesome! Not only do the buttons have their own unique style going on, but the shirt is a sheer blue with tiny stripes up and down with a black and gray shine to it! I am already imagining all the creative and wonderful things I can do with this. To top it off, this weekend when I was browsing Retrospect, I cam across this fabulous velvet long skirt that I am wearing. SO SOFT I TELL YOU IT IS SO SOFT! Also, wore my brand new creepers for the first time today with it so I basically just felt like a star! ( Get it, my creepers actually have stars on them. Wow, please, excuse my lame-ness)

Blouse/Skirt/Belt: Retrospect
Garter Tights: Urban
Creepers: Amazon

Please, don't mind all my hair. It is all natural by the way, and although sometimes I just can not stand dealing with it, my relationship with my hair is normally pretty good. Plus, I have to admit, it is extremely rare to find someone with the same extent of curls as mine. BTW my blog is only 4 days old but people are already commenting on it and I just want to say THANKS! A WHOLE LOT! I am pretty new to the blogging world, and I just really can not thank you guys enough. Feedback is always awesome!

Kitty Creepin!MEOW

My life just got a thousand times better. I have ben waiting for this day for the past three weeks since I palced an order on amazon! Day in and day out I sat next to the door, waiting for the arrical of the Postman who would come baring gifts. But not just any gifts, the two greatest gifts I could have ever asked for. Creepers and KittyCat Mary-Jane's! Not only can I know stomp around philly in style ( yes, i used the word stomp) but I am now a good three inches taller, which makes me happy, considering I am this tiny 5'2 little girl, with a whole lot of curly, fluffy hair.

Don't mind my mess of a self today, I did not want to get out of bed today which resulted in messy hair, and peachy-colored sweater from one of my favorite thrift stores. The good news: I FOUND A NEW THRIFT STORE IN PHILY!!! Well, it's not so much new....For months I have been hearing talk of this amazing warehouse that was this secret dive for all these wonderful time pieces, but for the life of me I could never come across the location or the days it was open. Thankfully, the fashion gods introduced me to this wonderful dood Triston today, who told me all about this secret wonderland. Pay-day can not come soon enough! I need me some more thrifting!

Grandma's Homemade Cookies

The fact that I love dressing like a hip grandma really helps me out for two main reasons. Old people die and eventually all of their old clothes have to be handed down somewhere; I have both my grandma's left who LOVE to give away their clothes, to me. ( I was slightly kidding about the dying old people comment, slightly) Not only can I dedicate an entire section of my closet to Grandma style, but I look good dressing like a classy lady! My personal style advice for the day: "More is better than less." Do not be afraid to dress conservatively, but still look great doing it! Plus, when you get a bunch of compliments and head nods from guys you know it is not because your cute little boootie is hanging all over the place! Here is what I wore today, sorry for the god-awful quality, I swear I am working on a new camera situation!

(My room is so messy! I am in the process of moving, eeep. New apartment this weekend!)
Pleated skirt: Retrospect Thrift
Tights: Local CVS
Boots: Retrospect Thrift
Blouse: Buffulo Exchange
Vest: Hand me Down

If you haven't already noticed, I have a slight obsession with Retrospect which is located right on South Street in Philadelphia, P.A. Although it may be slightly pricier than other thrift stores near it, it is the perfect place to find incredible vintage treasures! Plus, if you are into silly over sized sweaters like I am, they have one that will fit any style. Did i mention the entire store is color coordinated, which makes my shopping experience and life a thousand times better. If you are in the philly area, you must not miss out on Retrospect!

Doc Marten refilled my prescription today

Today I opened up my closet, and through the piles of underwear, shorts, frilly socks and oversized sweaters I saw these gold laces staring out. It's the return of the docs, or better yet, my realization that I should have never retired them. Through all we had been through I still can not fathom how, or even why I had stopped wearing one of the most comfortable pair of shoes my feet have ever felt. Today is a new beginning, for me myself and my Docs! Winter, I fear you no more!

Although Philadelphia is not usually known for its warm weather, we have been relatively lucky with warm weather. I mean, come one, since when do East Coast people get to wear shorts in January, unless you live down south? Aside from the little bit of snow that everyone is freaking out about, and the few rainy days that has come our way I am incredibly grateful for these temperatures these past days.

Docs: Plato's Closet 14$, FOURTEEN DOLLARS HOLY CRAP YES
Oversized Sweater: Retrospect Thrift Store
Stockings/Knee Highs: Local CVS
Gray High-waisted shorts: Urban Sale
Green Sweater: Urban
Faux Fur Jacket: Burlington Coat Factory

This is my first blog post and I am really excited to not only expose my personal style to others (hopefully) but also to keep track of my style to see how it changes over the months, days, yrs, yadayada!
